STP 05-02-2015: Mother Nature Welcomed the FTB with Scattered Showers and Thunderstorms

Summary:

Precipitable Water values climbed into the 90th percentile for May 1st, leading to isolated-to-scattered showers and thunderstorms statewide. The most activity occurred across the Front Range, Urban Corridor, Palmer Ridge, and Northeast Plains. More than one inch of rain fell over portions of the Northeast Plains, as analyzed by the radar. CoCoRaHS observers reported anywhere from a trace to 0.59 inches across the Front Range and Urban Corridor.

The stronger storms produced small hail, with most reports between 0.75 and 0.88 inches in diameter. One storm produced hail that reached severe criteria; 1 inch hail was reported 3 miles S of Evergreen in Jefferson County.

No flash flooding occurred yesterday.
