STP 05-08-2017: Unsettled Sunday

Summary:

As the upper-low continued to spin over southern California, moisture was directed from the south across Colorado. This set the stage for scattered showers and thunderstorms, with the most coverage/rainfall across eastern Colorado. According to CoCoRaHS observers, the big winners from yesterday’s rainfall include:

Boulder County: 1.35 inches
Lincoln County: 0.53 inches
Larimer County: 0.52 inches
Las Animas County: 0.41 inches
Baca County: 0.40 inches

STP 05-07-2017: Moisture Funneled into Colorado

Summary:

An upper-level low spinning over southern California, and an upper-level ridge across the central US, funneled moisture into western Colorado yesterday, feeding scattered showers and thunderstorms across the area. A few showers/thunderstorms spilled over the Urban Corridor, producing pea-sized hail and brief moderate rainfall. According to CoCoRaHS observers, the following were the big winners in yesterday’s rainfall:

El Paso County: 0.31 inches
Mesa County: 0.17 inches
La Plata County: 0.16 inches
Teller County: 0.15 inches

STP 05-06-2017: Mother Nature Provided a Beautiful Friday

Summary:

Sunshine and above average temperatures were the main weather story yesterday as high pressure and dry conditions brought about a perfect end to the work week across Colorado. A few high-level clouds returned to western Colorado early this AM in advance of the next surge of moisture from the south/southwest.

No flash flooding occurred yesterday.

STP 05-05-2017: “Severe Clear” Day

Issue Date: Friday, May 5th, 2017
Issue Time: 10:10 AM MDT

Summary:

Strong, upper-level ridging worked over the state yesterday, leaving Colorado completely dry and sun-drenched. A few high-clouds returned to the state during the evening/overnight hours, but produced nothing more than something at which to look. No precipitation was reported.
