Warm air aloft kept the environment <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;capped&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;The area where a parcel of air has negative buoyancy or sinks. The intensity of the cap is measured by its convective inhibition. If the cap is sufficiently large, it may prevent thunderstorms from forming at all.&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>capped<\/span> yesterday, and drier conditions allowed the mercury to climb higher than it has since early September 2014. Quite a few locations across the Southeastern Plains reached at, or just above 100 F yesterday, while most locations across the plains found their way into the mid-\/upper-90s.
