As air parcels descend, they warm, which often results in rapid warming of areas near the higher terrains. It also promotes lower relative humidity values and stability, which prevents thunderstorm development.&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>downsloping<\/span> winds to the east, which limited rainfall on Monday. A passing jet also mixed down some strong winds to the surface and created fire weather over the northern half of the state. Thankfully, no new fires were reported as of this morning. The highest gust from yesterday was at Monarch Pass where a gust of 70 mph was recorded. The map is updated daily during the operational season (May 1 &ndash; Sep 30) by 11AM. The 24-hour, 48-hour and 72-hour total precipitation contain bias corrections that are not disaggregated into the hourly estimates, so there will likely be some differences. Also shown optionally are fire burn areas (post 2012), which are updated throughout the season to include new burn areas.
