Most of the smoke was limited to the middle and upper levels of the atmosphere except over the Northwest Slope and northern mountains. Visibility in this region was once again limited to the 6-7 mile range. Temperatures were near normal yesterday for the eastern portion of the state with the Grand Valley reaching the low 90s once again. Overnight lows were about 5F warmer than Tuesday night.<\/p>\n<p>Another quiet day of weather in regards to rainfall. The high pressure and ridging pattern to the west continues to promote subsidence and suppress <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;advection&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;The process of transport of an atmospheric property, typically temperature or moisture in our FTB discussions, by the wind. &amp;quot;Strong&rdquo; or &amp;quot;weak&rdquo; advection refers to the rate of change of the advected property&amp;#039;s value at a given point.&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>advection<\/span> of moisture into the state. Residual moisture further south helped in the formation of some light showers with the diurnal flow. Afternoon showers were predominantly over the San Juan Mountains with SNOTEL stations in the area recording 0.2 inches of rainfall. Radar estimates were up to 0.5 inches. Another <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;isolated&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;less than 10% areal coverage&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>isolated<\/span> shower formed over the Southeast Mountains around 9:30 PM. The map is updated daily during the operational season (May 1 &ndash; Sep 30) by 11AM.
