The end result was temperatures 5-10F above normal statewide. High temperatures in the mid-90s F were common across southeast and western Colorado. Interestingly, in the northeast part of the state, despite plenty of sunshine, temperatures were likely limited by the thick <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;haze&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph {&amp;quot;textColor&amp;quot;:&amp;quot;white&amp;quot;} --&amp;gt;\n&amp;lt;p class=&amp;quot;has-white-color has-text-color&amp;quot;&amp;gt;atmospheric phenomenon that occurs when fine particles suspended in the air greatly reduce visibility and air quality&amp;lt;\/p&amp;gt;\n&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>haze<\/span> from the <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;numerous&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;40-60% areal coverage&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>numerous<\/span> wildfires burning to our northwest.<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, despite seemingly low odds because of marginal moisture, <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;isolated&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;less than 10% areal coverage&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>isolated<\/span> to <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;widely scattered&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;10-25% areal coverage&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>widely scattered<\/span> storms managed to form in the Central Mountains, southern Front Range, San Juans and Southeast Mountains. This is an excellent example of how high elevation terrain can drive its own circulation. As expected, storms had a difficult time producing rainfall and the highest totals this morning were a few tenths of an inch. Interestingly, it appears that a storms combined to form a localized circulation over the San Juans that kept producing light rain showers after sunset (see Saturday evening&rsquo;s water vapor image, below).<br><a href=\"https:\/\/archive-coftb.dewberryanalytics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/wv_sanjuan_storms.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6217\" src=\"https:\/\/archive-coftb.dewberryanalytics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/wv_sanjuan_storms.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"515\" height=\"275\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Flooding was not reported on Saturday. The map is updated daily during the operational season (May 1 &ndash; Sep 30) by 11AM. The following six layers are currently available: 24-hour, 48-hour and 72-hour total precipitation, as well as maximum 1-hour, 2-hour and 6-hour precipitation over the past 24 hour period (to estimate where <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;flash flooding&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph {&amp;quot;textColor&amp;quot;:&amp;quot;white&amp;quot;} --&amp;gt;\n&amp;lt;p class=&amp;quot;has-white-color has-text-color&amp;quot;&amp;gt;flash flooding can refer to usually dry areas becoming rapidly inundated with water, or rapid water level rises on streams, creeks, or rivers beyond flood stage; typically caused by heavy rainfall, but can also be caused by meltwater&amp;lt;\/p&amp;gt;\n&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>flash flooding<\/span> may have occurred).
