With <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;precipitable water&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;The total atmospheric water vapor contained in a vertical column of the atmosphere. It is typically measured in inches, and anomalously (deviation from normal) high values of precipitable water generally correlate to heavy rainfall potential.&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>Precipitable water<\/span> levels remaining near or above 1 inch, early morning sunshine quickly generated instability, forming storms before noon. Slow moving storms delivered a quick 0.5 &ndash; 0.75 inches of rainfall, though <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;isolated&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;less than 10% areal coverage&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>isolated<\/span> higher amounts were observed. For example, three SNOTEL sites received 1.5 inches of rainfall or more, with most of that falling in a 1 hour period. In all 9 <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;flash flood&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph {&amp;quot;textColor&amp;quot;:&amp;quot;white&amp;quot;} --&amp;gt;\n&amp;lt;p class=&amp;quot;has-white-color has-text-color&amp;quot;&amp;gt;flash flooding can refer to usually dry areas becoming rapidly inundated with water, or rapid water level rises on streams, creeks, or rivers beyond flood stage; typically caused by heavy rainfall, but can also be caused by meltwater&amp;lt;\/p&amp;gt;\n&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>Flash Flood<\/span> Warnings or Areal Flood Advisories were issued on Thursday afternoon by the Grand Junction and Pueblo National Weather Service offices.<\/p>\n<p>Though most storms were limited to the higher terrain, a few managed to stay intact as they crawled eastward off the Palmer Ridge. A quick 1 inch per of rainfall (up to 0.5 inches in 10 minutes!) was observed in southern parts of Denver metro with up to 2.5 inches falling in rural Elbert County. That cell also produced hail, with a report of 1 inch stones falling in Elbert County.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, flooding was not officially reported on Thursday.
