Temperatures across the state were 10-15F above normal with 100F or higher temperatures for elevations as high as 5,500 feet. Even higher elevation locations such as Copper Mountain made it to 70F. Meanwhile, a convergence boundary in the far southeast part of the state allowed for the development of several strong to <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;severe thunderstorms&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;Thunderstorms that produce a tornado, winds of at least 58 mph (50 kts) and\/or hail at least 1&amp;quot; in diameter.&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>severe thunderstorms<\/span> in Baca County. These slow moving storms were responsible for a few large hail reports. Most of the heavy rainfall fell between gauged locations, but radar based estimates suggest over 2 inches for <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;isolated&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;less than 10% areal coverage&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>isolated<\/span> parts of the county.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;scattered&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;25-40% areal coverage&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>scattered<\/span> shower and storm activity was more of the garden variety type with a few tenths of rainfall over northern areas and perhaps up to 1 inch in mainly rural parts of the Raton Ridge and Southeast Mountains.<\/p>\n<p>A Flood Advisory was issued for the Baca County storm yesterday afternoon; however, flooding was not reported as of this morning.
