{"id":3213,"date":"2016-07-26T09:00:37","date_gmt":"2016-07-26T15:00:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.coloradofloodthreat.com\/?p=3213"},"modified":"2017-04-24T17:03:35","modified_gmt":"2017-04-24T23:03:35","slug":"stp-07-26-2016-fewer-storms-overall-one-thunderstorm-complex-provided-the-main-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive-coftb.dewberryanalytics.com\/?p=3213","title":{"rendered":"STP 07-26-2016: Fewer Storms Overall, One Thunderstorm Complex Provided the Main Show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Issue Date: Tuesday, July 26th, 2016<br>\nIssue Time: 9:00 AM MDT<\/p>\n<h3>Summary:<\/h3>\n<p>As the title of this post suggests, yesterday saw a downtick in the number of thunderstorms as compared to the previous day. <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;isolated&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;less than 10% areal coverage&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>Isolated<\/span>-to-<span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;scattered&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;25-40% areal coverage&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>scattered<\/span> storms were still found over the High Country and Western Slope, while eastern Colorado focused on one main storm complex. This thunderstorm complex began first over Douglas and Elbert counties, then moving in a general south-southeastward direction across El Paso, Pueblo, Lincoln, and Crowley counties. It then lost its steam, becoming more of a general rainfall event as it moved slowly to the east-southeast, dissipating over Otero, Bent and Kiowa counties. Storm reports from this complex are as follows: <\/p>\n<p><strong>Thunderstorm wind gust:<\/strong> 63 mph (4 miles NE of Blende, Pueblo County), 60 mph (3 miles NE of Castle Rock, Douglas County), 55 mph (4 miles S of Cheraw, Otero County)<br><strong>0.88 inch hail:<\/strong> 2 miles SSE of Fountain (El Paso County)<br><strong>0.75 inch hail:<\/strong> 2 miles NW of Crowley (Crowley County)<br><strong>Heavy Rain:<\/strong> 2.0 inches (5 miles WSW of Blende, Pueblo County), 0.87 inches\/35 minutes (2 miles SSE of Fountain, El Paso County), 0.83 inches (1 mile SE of Pueblo West, Pueblo County)<\/p>\n<p>No <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;flash flooding&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph {&amp;quot;textColor&amp;quot;:&amp;quot;white&amp;quot;} --&amp;gt;\n&amp;lt;p class=&amp;quot;has-white-color has-text-color&amp;quot;&amp;gt;flash flooding can refer to usually dry areas becoming rapidly inundated with water, or rapid water level rises on streams, creeks, or rivers beyond flood stage; typically caused by heavy rainfall, but can also be caused by meltwater&amp;lt;\/p&amp;gt;\n&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>flash flooding<\/span> was reported, but street and field ponding\/flooding likely occurred underneath the stronger thunderstorms.
