Diurnal heating and weak disturbances aloft combined to get <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;convection&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;Refers to vertical atmospheric motion driven by buoyancy, i.e., warm air is less dense than cool air, and therefore rises. Notable rainfall totals include:<\/p>\n<p>&bull; 2.40&rdquo; near Elizabeth<br>\n&bull; 2.32&rdquo; near Peyton<br>\n&bull; 1.70&rdquo; near Franktown<br>\n&bull; 1.33&rdquo; near Colorado Springs<\/p>\n<p>Further south over the San Juan Mountains, Southeast Mountains, and Palmer Ridge, <span class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;QPE&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;strong&amp;gt;Q&amp;lt;\/strong&amp;gt;uantitative &amp;lt;strong&amp;gt;P&amp;lt;\/strong&amp;gt;recipitation &amp;lt;strong&amp;gt;E&amp;lt;\/strong&amp;gt;stimate; an estimate of the amount of precipitation that has fallen at a particular location or across a region based on several different data sources, such as radar or satellite; QPE is often calculated using remotely-sensed data sources&lt;\/div&gt;\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>QPE<\/span> data suggests amounts up to 1&rdquo;, although amounts are likely underestimated over the San Juans thanks to the Grand Junction radar outage. Several rivers, creeks, and streams in the region are running much above normal after the rainfall the last several days, including the San Juan River and Piedra River, although no flooding has been reported. Notable rainfall totals include:<\/p>\n<p>&bull; 1.31&rdquo; southeast of Pagosa Springs<br>\n&bull; 1.15&rdquo; near Mesa Verde National Park<br>\n&bull; 1.09&rdquo; west of Trinidad<\/p>\n<p>For the far eastern Plains, <span class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;QPE&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;strong&amp;gt;Q&amp;lt;\/strong&amp;gt;uantitative &amp;lt;strong&amp;gt;P&amp;lt;\/strong&amp;gt;recipitation &amp;lt;strong&amp;gt;E&amp;lt;\/strong&amp;gt;stimate; an estimate of the amount of precipitation that has fallen at a particular location or across a region based on several different data sources, such as radar or satellite; QPE is often calculated using remotely-sensed data sources&lt;\/div&gt;\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>QPE<\/span> data suggests amounts up to 2.5&rdquo; were observed in some locations, particularly across Yuma and eastern Kiowa Counties.
