These clouds generally did not produce rainfall, except for a few showers over the San Juan Mountains where the only reported precipitation of 0.02 inches was reported by a <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;CoCoRaHS&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph {&amp;quot;textColor&amp;quot;:&amp;quot;white&amp;quot;} --&amp;gt;\n&amp;lt;p class=&amp;quot;has-white-color has-text-color&amp;quot;&amp;gt;&amp;lt;strong&amp;gt;Co&amp;lt;\/strong&amp;gt;mmunity &amp;lt;strong&amp;gt;Co&amp;lt;\/strong&amp;gt;llaborative &amp;lt;strong&amp;gt;Ra&amp;lt;\/strong&amp;gt;in, &amp;lt;strong&amp;gt;H&amp;lt;\/strong&amp;gt;ail, and &amp;lt;strong&amp;gt;S&amp;lt;\/strong&amp;gt;now Network, a volunteer network of precipitation observers across the country&amp;lt;\/p&amp;gt;\n&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>CoCoRaHS<\/span> observer near Ouray. A <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;trace&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;a descriptor used when precipitation occurs, but the amount is too small (less than 0.01&amp;quot;) to be measured by a weather instrument such as a rain gauge&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>trace<\/span> of rainfall was reported near Buena Vista in the Central Mountains as well.<\/p>\n<p>Since precipitation looks to not be in the forecast for awhile, let&rsquo;s take a look back at the precipitation received so far for the month of September. The image below shows total precipitation received so far in September 2020 (left) as well as how that compares to climatological normal (right). As you can see, much of the state has received over 1 inch of precipitation so far this month, with totals over 2 inches along the southern and central mountains. This beneficial precipitation is well above 100% of average for the month across these locations. However, some areas of Colorado did not benefit as much from the recent storm last week. The Northwest Slope received well under an inch of precipitation so far this month, so they are between 10% and 70% of normal for September so far. Hopefully some precipitation will be able to make up this deficit later this month. Note that these precipitation analyses are preliminary and will change as the month goes on. The map is updated daily during the operational season (May 1 &ndash; Sep 30) by 11AM. The 24-hour, 48-hour and 72-hour total precipitation contain bias corrections that are not disaggregated into the hourly estimates, so there will likely be some differences. The accumulation ending time is 7AM of the date shown in the bottom right corner. Also shown optionally are vulnerable fire burn areas (post 2012), which are updated throughout the season to include new, vulnerable burn areas.
