Severe weather is typical for this time of year for the eastern plains and occurs somewhat frequently over the High Country and Western Slope, but the density and magnitude of severe weather reports was something not typically seen. <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;severe thunderstorm&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;Thunderstorms that produce a tornado, winds of at least 58 mph (50 kts) and\/or hail at least 1&amp;quot; in diameter.&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>Severe thunderstorm<\/span> winds were reported all across the state, with the following being the most severe:<\/p>\n<p><strong>110 mph:<\/strong> 6 miles SW of Winter Park (Grand County)<br><strong>99 mph:<\/strong> 2 miles SW of Great <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;Divide&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph {&amp;quot;textColor&amp;quot;:&amp;quot;white&amp;quot;} --&amp;gt;\n&amp;lt;p class=&amp;quot;has-white-color has-text-color&amp;quot;&amp;gt;the dividing line that separates the watersheds of the western and eastern United States; rivers west of the divide empty into the Pacific Ocean, while rivers east of the divide empty into the Atlantic Ocean or Gulf of Mexico&amp;lt;\/p&amp;gt;\n&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>Divide<\/span> (Moffat County)<br><strong>90 mph:<\/strong> 2 miles E of Copper Mountain (Summit County)<br><strong>86 mph:<\/strong> 13 miles ENE of Buford (Rio Blanco County)<br><strong>85 mph:<\/strong> Cedar Point (Elbert County)<br><strong>82 mph:<\/strong> 7 miles N of Rockport (Weld County)<br><strong>80 mph:<\/strong> 1 mile NNE of Castle Pines (Douglas County)<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the thunderstorm winds, quick bouts with moderate-to-heavy rainfall attended the stronger thunderstorms, but not enough to cause any <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;flash flooding&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph {&amp;quot;textColor&amp;quot;:&amp;quot;white&amp;quot;} --&amp;gt;\n&amp;lt;p class=&amp;quot;has-white-color has-text-color&amp;quot;&amp;gt;flash flooding can refer to usually dry areas becoming rapidly inundated with water, or rapid water level rises on streams, creeks, or rivers beyond flood stage; typically caused by heavy rainfall, but can also be caused by meltwater&amp;lt;\/p&amp;gt;\n&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>flash flooding<\/span> on Saturday. Multiple flood advisories were issued by the Grand Junction National Weather Service office for urban and small stream flooding, but no reports were available for verification. The map is updated daily during the operational season (May 1 &ndash; Sep 30) by 11AM.
